You just can’t resist taking in the food you desire most and that too in large quantities. Though cravings can become a great problem, it can also be easily suppressed. Suppressing cravings is one of the best ways to lose weight and not like unhealthy fast weight loss diet programs.
A very simple way to suppress cravings is to avoid taking in too much sugar or salt. It is as simple as that! Just avoid adding that extra salt or sugar to your vegetables and fruits which may seem bland without it. But don’t you want to lose weight? Coffee with too much sugar also acts as a stimulant for cravings. Instead drink herbal tea or diluted fresh fruit juices to reduce cravings and lose weight. And don’t be carried away by calorie free artificial sweeteners. These are actually much sweeter than ordinary sugar. Do not try avoiding sweet altogether but minimize their usage to the maximum if you want to lose weight. Diet sodas also contain these sweeteners. Healthier options to lose weight are frozen or fresh fruit, low fat yogurt, canned fruit and a small amount of jelly.

You may be on a fast weight loss diet program or a gradual weight loss diet program. Whatever weight loss program you may be in there are times when you make slips and get out of the routine prescribed for you. You may slip out on your diet or maybe your exercise. Excusing yourself every time you make this slip is not going to help you reach your weight loss goal.
The best way to keep in track is journaling. Journaling involves writing down what you eat everyday and what are the exercises or simple physical activities that you do daily. When you are journaling you can make a note of eating triggers that lead you astray everyday. When you start journaling and putting down what you eat and what you do, you will be more aware that you are on a weight loss program and need to stay focused. Those tempting ice creams or doughnuts will become less attractive once you realize that you need to put it down on paper. There are websites which have journaling facilities where you can enter your food intake daily and you are given a weekly analysis or feedback on how you are progressing in your weight loss plan. Thus journaling keeps you on track to achieve your weight loss goals.
